The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental clearance (EC) to OM Sairam Steel and Alloys’ proposal for expansion of its metallurgical unit located at MIDC, Ph-II, in Aurangabad, Maharashtra
The company proposes to raise the capacity of its metallurgical unit, billets/ ingots from 528 tpd to 1,000 tpd. It also proposes to add sponge iron of 1,000 tpd and a captive power plant of 50 MW
The total land required for the project is 6.09 ha, out of which 2.6 ha is for green belt development. The capital cost of the project is Rs 523 crore
The solid waste produced by the induction furnace is around 170 tonne slag per day. It will be used for road making and land levelling
The power requirement for the project is estimated at 5.8 MW, out of which 50 MW will be generated by the company and the remaining eight MW will be obtained from MSEDCL
